Bangor Independent School is family orientated. We will provide a flexible working partnership with parents. We want to ensure that the needs of all children are met and aim to offer the following:

Meet The Teachers


The teachers of Bangor Independent School have a wealth of experience in both education and the commercial world. We believe our life experiences along with our extensive training enables us to provide an education that encourages our pupils to grow and develop, reaching their full potential.




Estate Management BA Hons

PGCE – Bangor

Paul Gash

Paul graduated from the South Bank London with a degree in Estate Management. He practised as a Chartered Surveyor for numerous years. After a sabbatical in Seattle, USA, Paul decided to re-train as a teacher, completing his PGCE in Bangor. Paul has been Head of the Junior Infants department in a private school and teaches KS2.

Liz Perrins

Following her graduation from Manchester, Liz worked for Manchester and Leeds Education Authorities. Liz has over 30 years teaching experience including 10 years working in Wales. Liz has travelled abroad extensively, teaching English whilst raising her family.

Amy Carter

Amy Carter is on secondment from January 2019 to July 2019

After working in industry, Amy completed her teacher training in 2001 and was appointed Head of ICT at a local secondary school. Amy was also promoted to Head of Careers and Work Experience and has extensive experience across all key stages teaching through the medium of English and Welsh.

Gillian Ellis

After graduating from Bangor University, Gillian spent 15 years in London working in the financial markets, 10 years with a leading American Bank. Feeling passionate about education, Gillian took the decision to make a career change becoming a teacher in 2014.

Foundation Phase Teacher:

BA in Primary Education leading to QTS
3 year degree Bangor University

Nora Kirk

Has teaching experience from nursery up to year 6 following the Welsh National Curriculum in schools in Gwynedd and Anglesey.


Classroom Assistant

Rana Al- Hasso

In Bangor Independent School Rana supports our pupils  who have English as an additional language in the Foundation Phase.  Rana has a BSc in Law and has lived and worked with children in Canada before moving to North Wales.

Classroom Assistant

Salma Alherran

Dr Salma is a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientific officer. She also has a Master and PhD in Biomedical Sciences. In Bangor Independent School Salma supports our pupils who have English as an additional language.
