Provisions
Bangor Independent School is family orientated. We will provide a flexible working partnership with parents. We want to ensure that the needs of all children are met and aim to offer the following:
- Small class sizes
- Strong teaching team
- Streaming of Maths and English to ensure the appropriate levels of each child are met.
- School Council, run by the pupils, providing a platform for the children to share their ideas and views.
- Swimming lessons for years 3-6 (there will be an additional cost of £25 per term).

Paul Gash Paul graduated from the South Bank London with a degree in Estate Management. He practised as a Chartered Surveyor for numerous years. After a sabbatical in Seattle, USA, Paul decided to re-train as a teacher, completing his PGCE in Bangor. Paul was previously the Head of the Junior Infants department in a private school for 5 years. Paul’s teaching across all subjects is stimulating and focused on preparing Year 6 for the transition from KS2 to KS3. He creates interesting and enthralling science lessons that the children love and never forget and provides a strong foundation in Maths and Literacy. |

Gillian Ellis After graduating from Bangor University, Gillian spent 15 years in London working in the financial markets working as a project and product manager and designer. Feeling passionate about education, Gillian took the decision to make a career change becoming a teacher in 2014. With the work experience Gillian has gained at one of the worlds top banks, she believes that she can help children progress in their education whilst understanding how education and learning enhances their life choices. Gillian strives to ensure that each lesson is engaging and wants to build a real love of learning in each child at Bangor Independent School. She is a passionate and reassuring teacher, building learners confidence in order to help their progression. Gillian loves paddle boarding, roller skating and painting. |

Nora Kirk Has teaching experience from nursery up to year 6 following the Welsh National Curriculum in schools in Gwynedd and Anglesey. Nora is a passionate teacher who is encouraging and supportive. She is a kind and energetic teacher who brings new and innovative teaching ideas to Bangor Independent School. |

Sarah Adams Sarah is a kind and generous reception teacher who brings years of teaching experience after home teaching her children. Her children love her entertaining and captivating lessons. In addition to her lessons, she often sets challenges for the children that are educational and enjoyable. Sarah’s passion is to help children thrive to the best of their ability whilst encouraging them to engage in all activities. Sarah has home schooled 4 children to a very high level. She is a qualified first aider and has been trained to use a defibrillator. Sarah loves sports, cycling, walking and the great outdoors. |

Rana Al- Hasso Rana is the teacher of our nursery class and also supports our pupils who have English as an additional language in the Foundation Phase. Rana is a loving and caring teacher who helps the children build a strong foundation on which to build. Rana has a BSc in Law and has lived and worked with children in Canada before moving to North Wales. |

Salma Alherran Dr Salma is a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientific officer. She also has a Master and PhD in Biomedical Sciences. In Bangor Independent School Salma supports our pupils who have English as an additional language. She works closely with all the teachers at Bangor Independent School ensuring that international children progress in their English Language skills and can follow the curriculum. |

Caroline Knight Caroline has a wealth of teaching experience across KS2 and KS3. She is an energetic and passionate teacher who encourages children in their learning. Caroline has been a teacher for many years and is a well loved member of team BIS. She has lots of interests such as horse riding, hill walking, park running and sea swimming. These hobbies, along with her enthusiasm for gardening helps expands the children’s learning in the classroom. Caroline also teaches conversational French quite often putting little plays together that the children love. |

Liesel Diamond Liesel is a true gem. She is reliable and helpful to all the teachers at Bangor Independent School. She is encouraging to the children who adore her. Liesel has a love of film and digital adaptation which she shares with the children. Liesel Chlöe studied Level 2 diploma Creative media. Level 3 diploma TV and film at Llangefni college which collectively gave her 3A levels. One year business and administration in Bangor. She furthered herself in post at Bangor Independant School and qualified as a Level 3 teaching assistant. |
